June 5th is Pentecost Sunday, when we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit.  It is also the last Sunday that we will be following the narrative lectionary.  We have completed the four year cycle of the narrative lectionary - One year for each of the four Gospels.  We will now be returning to the revised common lectionary - the selection of scripture used in worship by churches of various denominations across the country.  Here is a list of the holidays and Gospel readings (June 5th is still from the book of Acts) for the month of June:

  • June 5      Day of Pentecost                Acts 2:1-21
  • June 12    Holy Trinity Sunday          John 16:12-15
  • June 19    2nd Sun after Pentecost     Luke 8:26-39
  • June 26    3rd Sun after Pentecost      Luke 9:51-62
