Summer is always a good time for the music ministry. It give me time to sort thourgh all those songs that I have jotted down during the year. Walking in my office, you might see me immersed in earbuds while tapping my foot and drumming on the desk. If I'm dancing to it, you can guess that it is a winner. My particular quest has been for songs of justice and inclusivity. Unfortunately, I am finding that the songs of justice sung during the 60's & 70's (which are quite poignant) seem to fit in for our present day. While I am greatful for the music, it makes me sad that we are still fighting for justice and inclusivity in the 21st century.
The music we do at Holy Cross Lutheran Church will always be inviting and centered around justice for ALL our neighbors. Be prepared to learn a new tune and a new song. It might be a familiar tune with new lyrics or a present-day Taize chant. You might feel like swaying, clapping, or even moving your feet. Music is a wonderful medium, isn't it?
With that, I leave you to find your toe-tapping, finger drumming songs. Dance away, my friends!
