And so it begins.

Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

Jesus walked into Jerusalem with an adoring crowd cheering and waving palms.  Yet, Maundy Thursday tells a different story.  The music turns from highly energized to a noticeable dread.  It’s the last supper.  We recognize this major shift as we strip the Sanctuary of color while we chant “Stay With Me.”

Surely, it stops there.  Yet, Friday is a day that Christ was crucified.  We sing songs of lament and remember as the sounds of the dropped rocks remind us the burdens that we carry and lay at his feet. Were you there? We depart in silence.

He has risen!  Christ is Alive! The Sanctuary has been transformed from the bleakness of black to the colors of Easter-the new beginnings!  Trumpets, organ, and our choirs celebrate with music! “Joy Comes with the Dawn” and “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee” make Easter Sunday come alive with music.

Join us for the journey.

Spring! Spring! Spring!

It’s Spring, my friends! Flowers and buds are bursting all over.  The days are getting longer and the kids are getting restless which tells me it’s…… Children-led Service time!

Sunday, April 26 at 9:30 a.m. is the  service led by Children (Sunday School Kids, Ukes, & Radical Ringers)  with the addition of the Middle School/High School Ensemble who are our Music Worship Leaders that day.  Not to be outdone, the Chancel Choir will join the kids and Middle School/High School Ensemble for a big surprise piece at the end!

I always love working towards this goal.  I love bringing all these groups together.  I love that YOU can be YOU here at Holy Cross Lutheran Church!

Musically Yours,
