Faith Stepping Stones

Faith Stepping Stones Ministry is a time when parent and child come together during the education hour for 2-3 learning sessions. All faith steps conclude with a blessing during worship. Each faith step celebrates and blesses each child, gifts each family, and calls parents back to the promises of baptism.

  • 3 year olds: Stepping into Sunday School (Sept. 11, 18, Blessing Sept. 25)
  • Kindergarten:  Stepping into Worship (Sept. 18, 25, Blessing Oct. 2)
  • 1st Grade: Walking through the Lord's Prayer  (Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29, Blessing Jan. 29)
  • 2nd & 3rd Grade: Walking through the Bible (Oct. 16, 23, Nov. 6, Blessing Nov. 6)
  • 4th Grade: Walking through Forgiveness (Feb. 5, 12, Blessing Feb. 12)
  • 5th Grade: Walking through Lutheranism (March 25, April 1) (Parents do not need to attend with child)
  • 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade (this year only)First Communion Classes (Feb. 26th, March 4)
  • First Communion for 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade at both Services on March 11, 2012

 

    In Baptism, sacred promises are made. As parents, it is your calling to keep these sacred promises:
  • To faithfully bring your child to the services of the God's house,
  • To teach your child the Lord's Prayer, the Creed and the Ten Commandments,
  • To place in your child's hands the Holy Scriptures,
  • To provide for your childs instruction in the Christian faith.
  • It is the church's calling to help parents be the primary Christian Educator for their child.

 

Sunday School

Our curriculum selection is SPARK. Spark lessons are designed to engage every child in active learning. The lectionary curriculum follows the stories in the Revised Common Lectionary. Each lesson comes from a Bible story in the Old Testament, the Gospels, or Acts. These are the same readings and sermons heard during worship service. This model is designed for children to make a connection from worship with Sunday school. Students are encourage to bring their Bibles each week to Sunday school.

Sunday school is held each Sunday during the regular school year from 9:45-10:45 AM in the education wing. Students should go directly to their classrooms at 9:45 AM.

Students ages 3 thru Kindergarten will gather with Nichol in the choir room for music and movement during the last 15 minutes. Students will return to their classrooms at 10:45 and should be picked up by a responsible adult.

Students in grades 1-5 with gather with Jennifer in the santuary during the last 15 minutes for music. They will be dismissed from there at 10:45 AM.

Kinder Krew and Kids Krew

Kinder Krew is for our Pre K-K. They meet in the 3 year old room on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:05 PM, where they will engage in Bible stories, service projects, and music and movement.

Kids Krew is for 1st-5th Graders. They meet in the Kindergarten Classroom on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 6:45 pm. Each week we will extend our Bible studies to include in depth exploration, discussion and community service opportunities.

King’s Kids Choir is for 1st-5th graders. They will participate in choir from 6:45 to 7:05 PM, under the direction of Jack Hutchinson, and sing in worship on a monthly basis. If children are not participating in King’s Kids Choir, they will need to be picked up by their parents at 6:45. Children cannot be left unsupervised.

Please note: For safety reasons, children may not be left unattended on Wednesday evenings. Children must either participate in the scheduled WET programming or be with their parents at all times.

 

Confirmation

Holy Cross provides confirmation instruction for youth in 6th - 8th grades. Our confirmation program includes a combination of large group instruction and fellowship times and small group sharing, learning, fellowship and service opportunities. Confirmation classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00 PM.

 

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is for children 3 year olds - 5th grade (currently enrolled in 10-11). Each evening will begin with a kid-friendly family dinner starting at 5:00 with freewill offering. The VBS program runs from 5:45 to 8:00 each night.

Come watch kids connect to God, and watch them grow stronger in their faith as they discover God is WILD about them! They will experience God listening to them... watching over them... and loving them-no matter what! Your kids will love serving God like never before and have the time of their lives doing it.
