How We Serve

Following with our church's mission, our members serve in many capacities, both inside the church and in the community.

Inside the Church

  • Assisting Minister – assist with worship by singing portions of the liturgy, leading prayers and assisting with communion
  • Church Council and committees
  • Coffee/Cookie Serving teams
  • Communion Assistant – assist with worship by serving wine during communion
  • Dinner servers for funerals and other special occasions
  • Doorkeeper – responsible for opening and closing the church on Sunday mornings
  • Fisherfolk – welcome guests to worship
  • Grace Ambassadors – deliver communion to hospitalized & home-bound members
  • Greeters – welcome all who come to worship
  • ComfortTiers – stitch quilts for Lutheran World Relief
  • Scripture Reader – assist with worship by reading the scriptures for the day
  • Stephen Ministry – persons trained to minister to persons going through difficult times in their lives
  • Sunday School Teachers – teach children the Christian faith
  • Ushers – pass out worship bulletins, collect offering

Outside the Church

  • Support of local food banks and shelters
  • Hands-on service in the community - Habitat for Humanity, Brush up Nebraska
  • Neighborhood Carnival, Trunk N' Treat, Living Nativity
  • Adult Mission Trips
  • Support of Church-wide organizations such as ELCA World Hunger appeal, Oaks Indian Mission and ELCA Disaster Relief
